Straight Stairlift

What Is a Straight Stairlift?

A straight stairlift consists of:

  • A rail (track) mounted directly to the stair treads (not the wall)

  • A motorized chair that moves along the rail

  • A footrest and armrests for support

  • Call/send controls to bring the chair up or down remotely

  • Safety sensors and seatbelt

Unlike curved stairlifts (which are custom-made for staircases with bends), straight stairlifts are typically simpler, quicker to install, and more affordable because they fit standard straight staircases.

A straight stairlift can significantly improve safety, independence, and quality of life:

1. Prevents Falls

Stairs are one of the biggest fall risks for people with:

  • Mobility impairments

  • Muscle weakness

  • Balance issues

  • Arthritis

  • Neurological conditions

The lift provides stable, seated transport up and down the stairs.

2. Promotes Independence

Instead of relying on:

  • Family members

  • Caregivers

  • Avoiding parts of the home entirely

A person can move freely between floors on their own.
